Beacon History Tour — New Tours will begin Mid-June 2026
Early Settlers to Factories to Cultural Hotspot
Join us for a fascinating historical walking tour of Beacon, New York! Stroll down Beacon’s Main Street from West to East. Along the way, our guide will share local facts and interesting stories of the people from past to present. Step inside Dutchess County’s oldest mansion built in 1709 by our first settlers* and the home of the creator of America’s first cotton mill. (A portion of your ticket is donating to the Madam Brett Homestead) Explore the city's evolution from a small gristmill and waterwheel settlement into a key player in the Industrial Revolution, and later into a cultural hotspot, offers a rich tapestry of stories and landmarks.
If you're planning a visit, you'll likely experience a blend of industrial history, local family legacies, and vibrant modern-day culture. Hearing stories from long-time Beacon residents and local historians can bring the city’s history to life in a way that books and displays alone can't.
*A portion of your ticket purchase will be donated to the Madam Brett Homestead by Beacon Walking Tours.
